It's getting close, we promise! As with any rock affiliated institution, we have our quirks and occasional health issues.

After a few month hiatus, work has resumed in full on the new record. At the risk of appearing immodest, early returns are quite favorable. This next record couples a more seasoned ensemble feel while embracing a more atmospheric approach in many sections. It's by turns more loose, more layered, but also catchier and free sounding. Hard to tell how it squares to the first record but in a few more weeks we'll post some rough mixes and y'all can let us know what you think. The final mix down will be in early March or at least that's the plan!

Belated thanks to the luna lounge, a fine place to play. The group is chippin' away at record #2 and indeed TGR v2. For the next few weeks the travelers travel to Argentina, to Costa Rica, to California and to a new taco place in Brooklyn. Watch for new recordings, new shows in the autumn. They'll be watching you watch for them.

It has begun! TGR spent 4 days over at Capture Sound in Brooklyn, capturing----if you will, the bed tracks for our next record. We're really excited for this one. New sounds, new ideas. You could say this record represents a significant widening of the tgr palette. However, a wise man once said tis best not to talk about your record until you're done with it. So the news may be quiet for the next few months. We will be out on the show front as well with a few local shots we're looking forward to so we'll see you there!

Due to umm, shall we say "communication" issues we are not playing this saturday, it's a long story but the short end is the good end: we're still playing on the 18th. We're hoping you do not read this after going down to the club and wondering why we blew you off. We didn't! It wasn't our fault, and we'll make it up to you. We're good people. In fact, two of our songs have been running in a PSA for a children's charity. So there!

We're slipping in a show next week at The Player's Theater. TGR goes Broadway! Or off broadway. Off-off Broadway. SHould be nice n cozy, come on by and grab a seat! Looking forward, we're booked again at The Cake Shop, where our record is currently up for sale.

Another new show up on the tab, we return to Pete's. The soft release of our record is making it's way. These May shows are kind of a double release party, a two week long celebration of the human spirit like Ramadan or Yom Kippur but without the fasting. Perhaps it doesn't merit a mention, but the record is indeed self titled. There are MP3s floating about with a "Shake Off The Ghost Advance" tag. However, at some point along the way we uhhh shook that one off. It's the same record. These next shows will be just before our session at Capture Sound so there'll probably be a heavy serving of our newer songs with a couple Ghosts in there to mix it up. Mike Presta, drummer extraordinaire, is also Mike Presta engineer extraordinaire. He along with the band will be engineering the next record. It will be a mixture of madness and magic as recording tends to be. For now, a bit of calm before the storm. Be well, ~tgr~

March 17 2007

Good times at Pete's last night, thanks to all those who braved winter's last hurrah. A little bit of news on our record: it is now available as an MP3 purchase off our Myspace site. It's encoded as a "192 KBPS" MP3 which sources tell us is the good stuff. Plus, we've included a streaming audio player on our site, over on the media page.
No more shows till May as The Rev will be working out material for our next record. We're slated to head in for a self produced session at Brooklyn's Capture Sound in late May. Work will continue on this next record through the summer but fear not, we'll be out n about playing shows as well. See you soon! TGR

Hey all, our CD is now available! Check out the buy page. We will post info regarding MP3 sales and local retailers as soon as it comes in.
Looking forward, March 16 figures to be a very nice night. We're playing with old friend Warren Ng and new friend Alice Cohen. Details up on the shows page. Thanks for stopping by, enjoy the music! ~tgr~
